On Saturday, I completed my first triathlon! It was a sprint distance race. I’ve been training for it for a while and I had a blast (despite it raining and being unseasonably cold)! I’ve already got another sprint on my calendar, and I’m beginning a training plan to do an Olympic distance tri in September.
Elizabeth went with me and cheered me on. She also got some great pictures from the event. Above you can see me preparing for the swim, coming into transition from the bike portion, crossing the finish line, celebrating with Elizabeth, and posing with my medal once I was warm and dry in the car.
Also, in driving to Jacksonville for this race, I can now say that I have driven every mile of Interstate 10, ocean to ocean!

Everyone on Facebook has become a gymnastics expert in the last few days.
I’m ready for the Olympics to be over so everyone will go back to not caring about gymnastics and swimming.

THIS IS FOR EVERYONE.
We cannot forget that a generation of hackers created something that they gave away to the world for free for everyone to use and we took that and spawned marvelous new art, economies, and communities.
TimBL could have patented the web browser, he could have licensed the web, he could be one of the richest men in the world. But instead, he thought maybe everyone should have equal and free access to it. Imagine how different the world would be if it weren’t for that decision.
I teared up a bit when they honored him in London yesterday.

So my birthday baseball trip was a little disappointing. The Braves lost 9-0. BUT then I came home and found out that Stan Lee is coming back to DragonCon this year (saw him from a distance last year but that was it) and Gillian Anderson has been announced! Totally turned the night around. Dana Scully (along with Teri Hatcher’s Lois Lane) was one of my earliest TV crushes.

This is me with Bobby Cox’s retired #6 at Turner Field a few weeks ago. Tonight I’m going back there. For my birthday on Friday, my parents got me tickets for tonight’s game against the Giants. My dad and I will be sitting right behind home plate! I can’t wait.

“Please, no droids, career tributes, daleks, dementors, ringwraiths, reavers, and especially no SPARKLING VAMPIRES. Oh, and clean up your own ectoplasmic residue (you know who you are). So Say We All.”

GPOYW: This was me at Turner Field on Saturday for the hottest Braves game on record. It was so hot I couldn’t smile for this picture. The Braves beat the Nats, and it was all worth it.
