It occurred to me recently that I have never updated y’all on some recent developments in my life (aside from growing my beard out longer). I’ve started seeing someone! I wasn’t really sure how to bring that up, but I think this post is appropriate. Today was my birthday. I always like it when it falls on Friday. I spent the day watching Friday the 13th Parts V-VIII. Then, my parents took my girlfriend, Elizabeth, and I out to dinner followed by cake and ice cream at their house with some more of my family. Elizabeth brought the cake and check out this super cool cake she got for me! It’s Batman! Also, now I have a cool Tumblr Tumbler Batmobile (you can’t tell me what to call it Chris Nolan) and Batwing! She’s a pretty cool lady (and not just because of this cake).

Also, my dad is taking me to see the Braves play the Giants on Tuesday. My parents got us great tickets, right behind home plate only a few rows up. I can’t wait.

This old 20/20 video showcases the 80s “satanic panic” that led people to fear heavy metal, Dungeons & Dragons, Stephen King, and horror movies. Listen to the parents and reporters freak out over the dangers of VHS (!) and cartoonish gore. It’s fun to mock them and how silly it all seems, but this is the kind of stuff that did a lot of damage to some people’s lives, such as the West Memphis Three.
